There Is A Box begins with a simple idea: there is always a box.

A structure. An expectation. A boundary. A way of seeing that feels fixed simply because it is familiar.

​

Through a series of geometric compositions, the exhibition explores the structures, expectations, and assumptions that shape how we move through the world. Each work begins with the same basic premise—a box within a box—but what happens inside, around, and because of that structure continually changes.

​

Using bold color, repetition, pattern, and variation, Laura plays with the tension between structure and possibility. Some compositions work comfortably within their boundaries. Others push against them, disrupt them, obscure them, or make the boundary itself part of the story.

​

The simplicity of the forms leaves room for something more personal. The boxes become visual metaphors for the roles we inhabit, the expectations we carry, the patterns we repeat, and the assumptions we rarely think to question.

There Is A Box is not necessarily about escaping the box. Sometimes structure gives us something to work with. Sometimes a boundary needs to be challenged. And sometimes the most interesting possibilities emerge simply because we choose to look at what is already there differently.
